In this episode, the viewers are introduced to the Bluth family, a wealthy clan whose fortune started with a frozen banana stand and blossomed into a construction empire. It is during a party celebrating the appointing of a new president that three critical events occur:
- Eldest son Michael is passed over for the position for his own mother.
- George Sr is busted by the FTC for embezzlement.
- Tobias, Lindsay's husband, believing that the boat party was a themed event, accidentally ends up protesting the gala with a group of similarly dressed gay pirates.
